About Us

The El Paso Journal

Mission

The El Paso Journal was founded in April of 2026 by local businessman and Fountain City Council member Sean Verhoeff. Throughout 2025 as he became more involved in the Fountain community, Verhoeff repeatedly heard the same sentiment from the countless friends, colleagues, and community stakeholders: Fountain needed a local news outlet dedicated to covering the people, issues, and events that matter most to the Fountain Valley.

Recognizing that larger news organizations often overlook the community, Verhoeff founded the El Paso Journal to fill that gap and ensure Fountain Valley residents have a dedicated source for local news, community stories, and information that affects their daily lives. The El Paso Journal is committed to giving the Fountain Valley a voice and keeping the community informed about the people and issues that shape its future.

Conflict of Interest & Editorial Independence Statement

As a member of the Fountain City Council, El Paso Journal founder Sean Verhoeff recognizes the importance of maintaining a clear separation between his public service and the newspaper’s journalistic responsibilities. Because the El Paso Journal regularly reports on Fountain City Council meetings, decisions, and activities, Verhoeff has voluntarily relinquished editorial control over the newspaper’s coverage of the council or any other subject. This policy is intended to prevent conflicts of interest, protect the newspaper’s editorial independence, and ensure that all coverage is guided by journalistic integrity and the public’s interest.
